How to get more repeat visits to your venue or store

Step 1: capture details at the counter
Make it part of the sale. Ask at the till, at booking and through the receipt or table QR code. Give a simple reason: a birthday treat, an early look at new menus or products, or priority booking.
Step 2: connect your systems
Link your point of sale or booking system to your email platform so a visit becomes a record you can use. Klaviyo connects to Lightspeed and Square. Other systems may need a custom connection, which we scope in the audit.
Step 3: send messages with a reason
- A thank-you after the first visit.
- A birthday message.
- A nudge when someone has not been in for longer than their usual gap.
- A quiet-day offer, targeted at people likely to respond.
Step 4: make it work for your team
Systems only work if staff collect the details. Teams change what they do when four things are in place: they understand why it matters, managers do it themselves, staff are shown how during a normal shift, and good capture is noticed and rewarded.
Step 5: check the numbers
Track the share of visits with captured details, the repeat visit rate, spend per returning customer and the cost of any offers. If offers cost more than the extra visits earn, change them.
Questions
Do I need to be a large group for this to work?
No. Venues with a few hundred regular customers can benefit. For larger groups, the benefits grow with the number of sites and customers.
Is it legal to collect customer emails at the till?
Yes, with clear consent and a way to unsubscribe, in line with the Spam Act and the Privacy Act. Check your own obligations with a professional.
